ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Illinois State women's basketball team defeated third-seeded Drake (22-10), 70-62, in the championship game of the 2008 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday, March 16. The win clinched the second MVC Tournament title in the last four years for the Redbirds and gives ISU the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Redbirds became the 15th No. 1 seed to win the title in the 24-year history of the MVC Tournament.
